DII Division Renamed as IDEA, John Hetts Appointed EVP

Dr. John Hetts, exec vice chancellor, Office of Innovation, Data, Evidence and Analytics, California Community Colleges Chancellor's OfficeAs part of an organizational realignment in the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the Digital Innovation and Infrastructure (DII) Division — which funds projects managed by the CCC Technology Center — has been renamed as the Office of Innovation, Data, Evidence and Analytics (IDEA).

Dr. John J. Hetts (pictured) was appointed executive vice chancellor of the new unit. He will lead the development and delivery of information technology and security services, student-centered technology-focused initiatives, and evidence-based reporting and evaluation, according to a Chancellor’s Office press release.

Colleges to Share Knowledge at 2022 Summer IT Workshops

The twice-annual workshops are highly anticipated by staff and faculty systemwide who attend to learn from experts about technologies and trends, and from colleagues at other colleges about their experiences and what has worked in practice. This summer's lineup features several presentations from folks at California community colleges of all sizes.

Accessibility Center to Present at Online Teaching Conference

In fact, adding usability features can boost learning for all students, as well as increase job satisfaction and success for staff and faculty.

In a half-day workshop at the upcoming Online Teaching Conference (OTC’22), the California Community Colleges Accessibility Center will explain why this is so, and step participants through the essential concepts of accessible course design in the Canvas learning management system.

SuperGlue to Replace CCCApply Download Client by 2023

Students outside the Student Services Center, San Diego Mesa College campusA change is coming to the delivery of student application data collected in the systemwide application for admission to the California Community Colleges, with the CCCApply download client being phased out.

The download client will still be available to colleges but access to any new data fields added after June 30 will require SuperGlue integration. Colleges will have a full year to transition to SuperGlue before the download client is taken permanently offline July 1, 2023.

2 CCCs Compete for $1M Brand-Building Grant

The national grant competition helps community colleges position their brand and marketing to gain the attention of adult learners.
