Napa Valley College winemaking programA promotional video featuring Napa Valley College’s winemaking program is the latest in a series highlighting educational and career pathways offered by California’s 116 community colleges.

In the three-minute video, “Raise a Glass to Napa Valley College’s Winemaking Program,” current students, alums and faculty members talk about opportunities afforded by NVC’s Viticulture, Wine and Technology (VWT) Program — one of the largest college viticulture and winemaking programs in the country.

Students in the VWT program can obtain either a one-year certificate or a two-year associate of science degree, specializing in viticulture, enology or wine marketing and sales. According to the college, a majority of the 800 to 1,000 students enrolled in the program each year are already actively working in the wine industry and taking classes to advance their careers.

VWT courses are taught by wine-industry professionals, and students get hands-on experience in every step of the winemaking process, from working in the five-acre vineyard on campus to selling the finished product under the Napa Valley College Estate label.

Produced on behalf of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the video is part of an ongoing multimedia campaign to boost community college enrollment, which has dropped systemwide by roughly 300,000 students since 2020.
