CCC Common Assessment InitiativeThe California Community Colleges (CCC) Common Assessment Initiative (CAI) is seeking nominations for a new Professional Development (PD) Work Group to augment existing groups focused on specific disciplines and processes.

“This new entity will complement existing work groups for English, Math, ESL, Multiple Measures and the Test Development Process,” said CAI Statewide Project Director Jennifer Coleman. “It is an additional opportunity to participate in the work of the CAI."

The new PD work group will assist in the creation of professional development offerings that will provide resources for faculty and staff throughout implementation of the CAI. Project partners are seeking participation from staff development offices, student services, assessment/matriculation staff, counseling and discipline faculty (in Math, English and ESL), research and IT. Coleman emphasized that this is an opportunity for participants to contribute to a major, statewide effort to support institutions with the rollout of the CAI.

“We know providing adequate training resources to each individual college will be paramount to successful implementation and integration of the common assessment within the CCC system,” Coleman said. “Professional development for every component of the assessment process, from the IT department, to counseling, to the classroom, will be addressed. Faculty development will be delivered via existing channels through a partnership with the statewide Academic Senate (ASCCC).”
