CENIC Annual Conference, March 4-7, 2018, Monterey, Calif.Registration is open and speaker proposals are being accepted for The Right Connection: CENIC 2018, the annual conference of the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC). The conference will be held March 4–7, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, Calif.

Each year, the conference brings together CENIC’s diverse community, with participants from all primary, secondary and postsecondary education segments; public and private research universities; public libraries; scientific, cultural and performing arts institutions; private sector technology businesses; public policy and government; and Research and Education partners from across the country and around the world. Call For Proposals

The CENIC Conference Program Committee is seeking proposals that highlight innovative uses of the California Research and Education Network (CalREN) to support vibrant and diverse California research and education communities. Submit a proposal by Nov. 30, 2017.

Potential areas of focus include:

  • State-of-the-art and future network technologies
  • Wireless technologies that extend the CENIC footprint
  • Innovative applications in areas such as teaching, research, public engagement, or healthcare
  • New strategies to ensure all California communities have access to high-speed broadband
  • Cybersecurity and privacy
  • Advances in broadband public policy
  • New statewide, national, global collaborations supported by an interconnected R&E world
  • New regional instantiations of research platforms
  • Other current topics that you think would be of interest to conference participants

Projects or studies to be featured may be works-in-progress. The conference venue will be connected to CalREN to enable live demonstrations of content or capability. Please visit the CENIC YouTube channel for examples of previous conference presentations.

The proposal deadline is 5:00 p.m. PST on Nov. 30, 2017. Submit a proposal here.

The program committee will review proposals, and presenters will be notified of acceptance by Dec. 22, 2017. Final presentation slides are due by Feb. 8, 2018.

CENIC is also pleased to announce the following keynote speakers for the 2018 conference:
