Course Exchange 2.0 Released To Production

California Community Colleges Online Course ExchangeThe California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI) has released Course Exchange Version 2.0 into production. This major release includes an improved student-user experience and back-end financial aid automation.

A complete list of features and enhancements is available in the Course Exchange Public Documentation.

The Course Exchange, a distinguishing component of the OEI, is designed to help students accelerate completion through cross-enrollment in online classes at colleges participating in the OEI Consortium. Through the Course Exchange, students who cannot get the courses they need at their home college are able to enroll in equivalent online courses from another college (teaching college) that has available seats. Students enroll via a streamlined registration process at their home college and benefit from reciprocity agreements between the colleges. Six colleges are currently live in the Course Exchange:

  • Butte College
  • Coastline Community College
  • Foothill College
  • Fresno City College
  • Lake Tahoe Community College
  • Ventura College

Course Exchange 2.0 has been deployed in the pilot environment since July 2017 and, during that time, the Foothill-De Anza implementation team has worked closely with colleges to validate the new features and gain feedback from functional users. Because of this extensive testing and close work with the CCC Technology Center, no downtime occurred during the transition to Version 2.0 in production.
