Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative logoMark your calendars for the first in a series of change-leadership events designed to foster leadership development in the California Community Colleges (CCC), and take student achievement to a higher level.

The inaugural CCC Change Leadership Summit will take place Oct. 5-6, 2017, at Hotel Irvine, Irvine, Calif. The summit is sponsored by the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) to support CCC dialogue and change-leadership development.

We encourage you to gather a cross-functional team of experienced and emerging leaders to explore new concepts about leading large-scale change at your college. Join us for rich discussions, shared ideas and provocative questions that will enhance our collective capacity to address student achievement and equity gaps.

Together, we will:

  1. Develop approaches, mindsets and tools that enhance local leadership efforts.
  2. Assess challenges and opportunities for collective system leadership within and across our institutions.
  3. Identify and explore leadership demands for undertaking whole systems change.

Who Should Attend?

Cross-functional teams within colleges composed of administrators, faculty, classified staff and researchers are encouraged to attend. College teams may already be working on projects or initiatives focused on eliminating equity and achievement gaps, or planning to engage in other transformational change efforts soon.

Participation is limited to eight attendees per college.

Summit Highlights

CCC Chancellor Eloy Oakley will discuss the Strategic Vision for Success and what this means for leaders in the Chancellor’s Office and the field. Participants will have an opportunity to hear Chancellor Oakley’s thinking about the whole-system-change approach necessary to implement this vision.

Additionally, John Kania, Global Managing Director at FSG, will be speaking. Kania is a nationally recognized leader, speaker, author and consultant in system leadership for social change. FSG, a social-change consulting firm, believes that change is possible only if we understand and support interdependencies and momentum shifts within a given system. Kania will introduce the concepts and practices of system leadership and lead participants in reflection and interaction that will support the development of a systems perspective.

Summit participants will be introduced to several tools that support a systems approach to leadership and change. The summit structure includes guided team conversations to support real-time application of system leadership concepts and tools to support current and planned change efforts.
