Advocating for Systemwide Technology Adoption

In this, we are fortunate to have a distinguished partner to broadcast our efforts to college leadership and staff statewide.

Digital Futures news, produced by the Foundation for California Community Colleges on behalf of the Chancellor’s Office, highlights innovative solutions that support students and colleges. As the official voice of the Digital Innovation and Infrastructure Division, the publication is an important communication platform for the Tech Center.

In addition to sharing success stories, the newsletter helps bring to light technology related issues colleges may be facing. Recently, the Tech Center worked with Digital Futures to address fraudulent use of the CCCApply admission application system and its possible link to a rise in financial aid fraud in the California Community Colleges. The resulting story — which advocates for college interaction with the CCCApply spam filter — is expected to be published in an upcoming Digital Futures newsletter.

Digital Futures is published quarterly and distributed via email to thousands of CCC staff and leadership statewide. Each issue offers success stories about programs within the community college system that simplify the student journey, and tools that are available to help our colleges improve delivery of student services or instruction, meet legislative mandates, streamline operations, or reduce costs. Additionally, a professional development listing provides the opportunity to promote upcoming events such as webinars, trainings, and workshops.

Since the inaugural issue in May 2018, Tech Center projects have been featured in more than 50 Digital Futures news stories, including recent items focused on the Student Success Suite, CCC Data Warehouse, accessibility, information security, and the Tech Center's partnership with CENIC.

An archive of past issues and all stories is on the Digital Futures website.
