Butte College Ranked Among Best Community Colleges in U.S.

Yet, individual campuses vary in quality and affordability.

In a new ranking of the community colleges where students can receive the best education at the lowest cost, Butte College — home to the California Community Colleges Technology Center — placed fourth in the nation, and third in the state.

California community colleges had a strong showing in 2021’s Best & Worst Community Colleges list, which was compiled by personal finance site WalletHub. Among the top 20 colleges, 10 are CCCs. Of California’s 116 community colleges, 77 were included in WalletHub’s analysis.

For its community college ranking, WalletHub compared 685 campuses based on 19 key indicators of cost and quality in the areas of cost and financing, education outcomes, and career outcomes. Out of a possible overall score of 99.9, Butte College received 67.71. The top college, State Technical College of Missouri, scored 72.61.
