WCET Outstanding Work (WOW) Award logo 2010The WCET Awards Committee has invited its members to submit a nomination for the 2010 WCET Outstanding Work (WOW) Award. WCET members—institutions, organizations or corporations—in good standing are eligible to be nominated for a WOW Award. Members may nominate themselves for the award. The deadline for nominations is March 31.

WCET members are on the cutting edge in using educational technology tools and practices. The WCET Outstanding Work (WOW) Award recognizes:

  • outstanding innovation
  • quality improvement
  • or achievements in using educational technology tools, techniques or services.

Eligible works include use of technologies:

  • In classroom instruction or in support services that assist students and faculty in meeting their goals.
  • In serving students who are on-campus or at a distance.
  • In settings that serve many institutions or a single classroom.

The focus of the WOW Award is to recognize outstanding efforts by WCET members in implementing technology in higher education. The award recognizes member achievements and publicizes their accomplishments.

According to an announcement from Russ Poulin, WCET Associate Director, "Past recipients have included large projects covering many institutions to small projects reflecting the ability of a few dedicated people making a difference in students' lives. Past recipients have covered a wide variety of instructional, technology and student support practices."

Award criteria, nomination instructions, and a list of past recipients are available from the WOW Awards Web site. WCET members may nominate their own work or that of other WCET member organizations. No more than five WOW Award recipients are chosen each year.
