CCCCO Data Center Now Has Gigabit Connection
Last Updated on Tuesday, 23 February 2010 Written by Janis Cortese Monday, 08 February 2010
The California Community College Chancellor's Office data center in Sacramento now enjoys a gigabit connection to the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC) California Research & Education Network (CalREN).
This new connection will provide the Chancellor's Office with full redundancy in their mail, database, storage and backup infrastructure. Full redundancy will allow the Chancellor's Office to better serve faculty, staff and students throughout California's community college system. The CENIC CalREN is an ultra-high-performance, fiber-optic, Internet-based network interconnecting the vast majority of K-20 educational and research institutions in the state with one another and colleagues around the world.
California's community colleges have also closed out 2009 and begun 2010 with many new gigabit connections. New connections include those to the College of Alameda, Citrus College, Shasta College, Antelope Valley College, Merced College and Diablo Valley College. Additionally, Mt. San Antonio College now enjoys two gigabit connections to separate CalREN backbone node sites, providing strong network diversity to the campus.
To stay up-to-date on the connectivity of California's community colleges to CalREN, visit www.cenic.org and subscribe to CENIC Today.<>
