CCC Student Film And Video Festival

Student Film and Video FestivalAwards, prize packages and national exposure are all on the line in an annual film and video festival open to California's community college students. There is no cost to enter the competition, which honors exceptional work completed in 2011.

The 7th Annual California Community Colleges (CCC) Student Film and Video Festival will accept entries in 10 categories until the March 30, 2012 deadline.

CCC students that participate will have an opportunity to showcase student projects at the June festival, held this year during the Online Teaching Conference.

3C Media Solutions, the CCC educational media distribution network, recognizes and rewards students for their achievements in video, film, broadcasting and animation.

Winning entries will be seen by teachers and instructors from all over the nation. Selected student producers will have an opportunity to speak about their film during the showcase. Winning films and videos will be streamed live from the 3C Media Solutions website.

Two new categories have been created for this year’s festival.

The first new category is for the Online Teaching Conference. This category calls for a two minute video expressing the virtues of online learning. It can be in any style from music video to a short film.

The second new category will recognize a student video and film editor for skill in editing a project. Anything from news to a short film will be accepted for this category.

The Video Theme Challenge this year is to create a video discussing the Dangers of Texting.

Entries will also be accepted in the seven following categories:

  • News and Sports Programs
  • News and Sports Packages
  • Music and Variety
  • Documentary and Interview
  • Commercials/Promos/PSAs
  • Specialty and Animation
  • Short Film

Eligible winners will receive An Award of Excellence, an Award of Distinction, or an Honorable Mention Certificate. The highest scoring Award of Excellence winner in each category will receive a prize package from the festival's sponsors. See the film and video festival website for prize package information.

All winning entries will receive written acknowledgement in our programs at the screenings. The contest is open to all California Community College students in fulfillment of a California community college course or campus media outlet.

More information—including the festival's rules and entry form (PDF)—are available at the festival's website.<>
