PESC Spring 2012 Data Summit

A council focused on interoperability of data systems and data exchange standards in higher education will hold its spring data summit in May 2012 in Las Vegas. Registration for the event is now open.
The Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) Spring 2012 Data Summit will take place Wednesday May 2-4, 2012 at the Wynn Resort. Data Summits focus on open community development, integration and implementation, maintenance and exchange of data and data standards.
Sessions at the Spring 2012 Data Summit will be held on the following efforts and topics:
- Academic ePortfolio
- Common Data Services Task Force and EDexchange
- Common Education Data Standards (CEDS)
- EA2 Task Force, InCommon and EDadmitme
Other areas of discussion will include:
- access
- data quality
- overall connectivity
- political factors that drive information systems and interoperability
All Concurrent and General Summit Sessions and events are open to all registered attendees. Summit attendees can expect the following:
- transparent collaboration
- engaging discussions
- awareness of technical resources and best practices
- identification of emerging technologies
- new business contacts
- tips from experts of leading community organizations
In continuing its mission of transparent, community-based collaboration, the Spring 2012 Data Summit is held in partnership with the AACRAO SPEEDE Committee, the Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) Initiative & Consortium, InCommon and the US Department of Education.
Established in 1997 at the National Center for Higher Education and located in Washington, D.C., PESC - the Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-based, umbrella association of colleges and universities; college and university systems; professional and commercial organizations; data, software and service providers; non-profit organizations and associations; and state and federal government agencies.
PESC envisions national and international interoperability, that is a trustworthy, inter-connected environment built by and between communities of interest in which data flows seamlessly from one system to another and throughout the entire eco-system when and where needed without compatibility barriers but in a safe, secure, reliable and efficient manner.
