Quarterly Meeting of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources

The quarterly meeting of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) will be held June 7 at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.
The meeting will last from 10am to 1 pm and attendance, either in person or online, is free. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person.
The CCCOER is a joint effort by the OER Center for California, Foothill-De Anza Community College District, the League for Innovation in the Community College and many other community colleges and university partners. The goal of the CCCOER is to develop and promote the use of open educational resources (OER) and especially open textbooks in California Community Colleges.
The meeting will include:
- A keynote presentation with a question and answer period by Mark Miller, a member of business development at Textbook Media, including a major open textbook announcement.
- Discussion of CCCOER leadership and changes in the coming months.
- Geoff Cain of College of the Redwoods and representatives of other member colleges will provide presentations on best practices.
- A panel discussion on textbook accessibility will be led by Community College Open Textbooks Collaborative Associate Director, Una Daly. Other Panel members will be Jared Smith from Web Accessibility in Mind; Gaier Dietrich, acting director of the High Tech Center Training Unit of the California Community Colleges; Julie Carpenter, Collections Director at Bookshare; and Alice Kreuger, president of Virtual Ability, Inc. The panel will focus on the motivations and processes for making OER accessible to diverse learners.
