2015-16 Technology Conferences, California Community CollegesMark your calendars—it’s going to be an eventful year. Several important technology-related California higher education conferences are coming soon that community college personnel won’t want to miss.

RP Group 2015 Strengthening Student Success Conference, Oct. 7-9

The annual Strengthening Student Success Conference is organized by the RP Group, an institutional research partner of the California Community Colleges (CCC). This year’s event is being held Oct. 7-9, 2015, in Oakland, with a theme of “Looking Back, Looking Forward.”

The final day of the conference will include presentations from CCC technology programs Common Assessment Initiative (CAI), Education Planning Initiative (EPI) and Online Education Initiative (OEI). While the main conference is sold out, those who register for any of seven post-conference workshops will have access to the initiative presentations.

DET/CHE 2015 Annual Conference, Dec. 1-4

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Directors of Educational Technology/California Higher Education (DET/CHE) organization will hold its annual conference Dec. 1-4, 2015, in Monterey, with the theme of “Discovering Pearls of Wisdom.”

  • Tanya Joosten, Director of eLearning Research and Development at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Co-Director of the National Research Center for Distance Education and Technological Advancements
  • Gordon Freedman, President of the National Laboratory for Education Transformation
  • Frank King, inspirational comedian

2016 CISOA/3CBG Annual Conference, Feb. 21-24

The Chief Information Systems Officers Association (CISOA) has announced its annual conference will be held Feb. 21-24, 2016, in Garden Grove (Orange County), with the theme of “The Future is Now.” The 2016 conference continues CISOA’s partnership with the California Community Colleges Banner Group (3CBG) and Ellucian, and will offer sessions to appeal to both technical staff and college personnel who use the technology.

2016 CISOA/3CBG Annual ConferenceAn interest survey will be sent out soon, along with a call for proposals seeking presentations, demonstrations and panel discussions on the topics of partnerships, leadership, applications, Oracle, MSSQL, Banner, Colleague and more. Information will be updated at the CISOA conference website.

CENIC 2016 Annual Conference, Spring TBA

Once a year, members of the research and education networking community gather in California for three days of presentations, demonstrations, keynote addresses, and human networking at the CENIC Annual Conference. CENIC, the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California, operates the high-capacity network that serves the majority of California’s K-20 education systems, public libraries, institutions and research organizations.

Online Teaching Conference, June 15-17, 2016CENIC has not yet announced a date for the 2016 conference, however, it is typically held in early March. Alternating in location between north and south, this year’s event is expected to take place in Northern California. Look for information to be posted at the CENIC conference website.

Online Teaching Conference 2016, June 15-17

For the third year in a row, the Online Teaching Conference will return to San Diego in June. The CCC TTIP South Projects, which organize the conference, announced OTC’16 will be held June 15-17, 2016. A venue and host hotel has not yet been publicized.
