Information Security Track

The Information Security Track will be presented by Jeff Holden, Chief Information Security Officer for the Tech Center and CCC Information Security Center. Holden will discuss the products and services offered by the Information Security Center and information security best practices. Participants will learn about legal and regulatory requirements, and how the Information Security Center’s resources can help fulfill these.

The track will also cover some common misconfigurations encountered by the Information Security Center during the 20-plus information security assessments it has completed at various colleges, and how to correct them. Finally, the presentations will explore the many information security standards, templates and best practice documents the Information Security Center has available for colleges to customize.

Accessibility Track

Technology is pervasive in the higher education setting and developing an accessible web and IT environment requires participation from different campus representatives, including web teams, senior leadership, faculty, procurement and disability services. The IT Accessibility Track, presented by Sean Keegan, Director of the CCC Accessibility Center, will outline institutional solutions that colleges can implement to address accessibility for students with disabilities as well as meet non-discrimination obligations.

Keegan will review programmatic steps a college may adopt for integrating accessibility evaluations into procurement processes and how to manage exceptions when web and IT products do not meet accessibility standards. The track will also provide participants with tools and templates to initiate web and IT accessibility self-assessments and share the resources that are available from the CCC Accessibility Center.

Identity Management Track

The Identity Management Track will be presented by Patricia Donohue, Product Manager for CCCApply, and Matt Schroeder, Systems Engineer for the Technology Center. Their presentations will cover identity management through the OpenCCC Federated Identity Initiative.

OpenCCC includes a systemwide student account creation and recovery process, as well as a federated identity solution, allowing students to access web-based technology applications across the community college system via a unique, single sign-on account. In addition to providing convenience for students, OpenCCC will have significant benefits for MIS teams and college administrators.
