PortalGuard Single Sign-On Deployed At SMC

Santa Monica College logoSanta Monica College (SMC) recently deployed PortalGuard within its environment as a solution to provide both security and usability. PortalGuard is available to California community colleges at a 75-percent discount through CollegeBuys, a program of the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

SMC wanted a software solution that could integrate single sign-on to Canvas, Oracle and other web-based applications for the entirety of its user base — upwards of 30,000 users. PortalGuard was also able to add web-based two-factor authentication and self-service password reset functionality.

The PortalGuard front-end customization features enabled the software to match the look and feel of SMC’s current website, effectively improving adoption and usability for SMC end-users. When classes began at SMC this fall, students, staff and faculty had single sign-on access to all their online applications through a convenient, secure and easy-to-access system.
