California Community Colleges (CCC) Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for the Online Teaching Conference, running June 19-21, 2017, in Anaheim, Calif. Oakley is scheduled to speak at 8:30 a.m. on the last day of the conference.
Oakley, who became CCC Chancellor in December 2016, most recently was Superintendent-President of the Long Beach Community College District. There, he helped form the Long Beach College Promise initiative, a partnership of public K-12 and higher education that prepares elementary students to succeed in college, and provides financial incentives for staying on track through transfer from community college to a four-year program.
The Long Beach College Promise initiative later became a model for the national College Promise Campaign, now headed by Martha Kanter, who will also be a keynoter at OTC’17. The full conference program can be viewed here.
Early-bird registration for OTC’17 has ended but tickets are still available at the regular conference rate of $325 until June 8. After that, pricing goes up to $375 while space remains. Click here to register for OTC’17.
